Food-Mood Connection

Regardless of the choices of food and our surplus, we are an underfed society. Our convenience foods are so low in key nutrients our moods and energy. Sugar is placed in different forms in most of our foods which are ultra-processed and contribute to both obesity, health ailments, low energy, low drive, low motivation, anxiety, irritability, inattention and focus issues, and adrenal dysfunction. Choosing nutrient dense foods and slowly incorporating them in your diet can make all the difference in how you feel and think. Here is the breakdown of healthier dietary practices.

One of the most important things you can do for your body is to get enough fresh filtered water. Water helps all cells function, washes out toxins, helps your kidneys function, increases energy, decreases anxiety, helps keep your weight balanced, and leads to restful sleep. Your body is approximately 60-70% water.

Getting a large variety of fruits and vegetables along w/animal protein sources help your cells get a variety of the nutrients you need to think, maintain focus, have enough energy, and improves digestion. Rotating foods, eating small consistent meals helps your body optimally function and helps to maintain balanced moods.

Food Elimination Diet

There is a connection between food and mood and often it is related to food sensitivities. Often clients want blood tests to confirm allergies but they aren't fool proof and if you are sensitive, it won't always show up. Other times, clients have enough body inflammation that the test indicates they are allergic to many products. An easy and inexpensive approach is to try a 21 day, strict food elimination diet to "wash out" foods from your system. Once accomplished, you'd reintroduce them 1 at a time to see if you feel "reactive" or sensitive or if physical symptoms like migraines, bloating, or stomach aches return.
